SCHOOL INFORMATION
St. Athanasius/ Immaculate Conception School is a Catholic Elementary School in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. It serves Kindergarten through Eighth Grades. It is located in the West Oak Lane section of the city of Philadelphia.
St. Athanasius/ Immaculate Conception School is constantly seeking to improve
its facilities to meet the needs of the students of the 21st century. Last
year, we renovated our library to include state of the art computers connected
to the Internet. This year we are proud to showcase our brand new
technology lab complete with 31 computers connected to the Internet and
a video
projection system used for demonstration and training.
Educational policy is determined and implemented within a collaborative framework. Major directives are established by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and are clearly outlined in grade-level curriculum guidelines.
We use a positive approach in our school. We celebrate holy days and special times (Black History Month, Halloween, St. Nicholas Day, etc.) throughout the year through liturgical celebrations as well as individual classroom and school wide celebrations. We acknowledge children's birthdays and achievements publicly on the PA system as well as through verbal praise, the honor roll system, stars, displaying their work, "Catch Me at My Best" awards, and student of the month. Punishment consists of the removal of privileges, and the issuing of demerits and detention.
To meet the needs of today's families, we offer a hot lunch program as well as an after school program.
